The three day ‘Bird Festival’ which started in Baah under Chambal safari of Agra in Uttar Pradesh on Friday has drawn wide public attention.
The first-of-its-kind three-day festival is being held to promote eco-tourism in the state.
Enthusiastic school students, equipped with cameras and binoculars are seen taking part in the international bird festival organised at the Okhla bird sanctuary and other districts of the state.
Braving the cold, several birders were also present at the sanctuary in Agra in the morning to spot migratory birds.
The first of its kind event in the state, 25 foreign and over fifty Indian ornithologists are participating in the much publicised Bird Festival.
Experts from the United States, Bangladesh, England and Kenya are among those who are there to study the varieties, habitat, climate and favourable breeding conditions of the birds.
To make it more popular and to arouse interest among general public and younger generations, simultaneous ‘Bird Watching’ programs are also being organised at each district.
The divisional forest officers have been asked to organise ‘Bird Watching’ event at every major wetland of their area and get the students participate in it.
The aim is to develop ‘nature gazing’ and specially the ‘bird watching’ as a habit in younger generation.
Besides, the endeavour also aims to make a Guinness World Record of maximum persons engaged in bird watching activity at any given time.
