The Students Joint Action Committee of the University has called for mass hunger strikes demanding the introduction of a bill in parliament to carve out a separate Telangana state. The Police have started taking into custody, several student leaders who have come from outside the campus. Large scale checking is underway at present to prevent outsiders from entering the campus.

Though the police are not entering the campus due to the earlier orders of state Human Rights Commission, the outsiders are being prevented entry to the campus and the students inside the campus are also prevented from taking out rallies to other parts of the city. Raids are also underway in the nearby slums to drive away supporters of students who are taking unauthorised shelter.

The Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy called on the Chief Minster Kiran Kumar Reddy to brief him about the law and order situation.
Meanwhile, the Congress MPs and Legislators who resigned recently are meeting once again here today.
