The Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU, today observed TB Day on the occasion of World TB Day as an effort to keep TB high on the global and national agenda.

The Day is observed in the memory of Robert Koch for the discovery of causative organism of Tuberculosis in 1882 ,

A Poster, “It’s Time………..” was jointly released by Prof Khalid Zaman Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Dr Saud Ali Khan, Principal AKTC, AMU and Prof S M Safdar Ashraf, chairman, Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), along with the teaching faculty, PG Scholars, Interns and UG students of the college.

A slogan completion was also held in the Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine).

World TB Day 2019 theme will ensure that the world is reminded of the commitments made and timely need for action in scale up, research, funding, human rights and accountability.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Khalid said that we should be aware about the Tuberculosis and its prevention.

Prof S M S Ashraf explained various aspects of the poster and its purpose. He highlighted the issue of Tuberculosis and informed that approximately 8 million people are suffering from TB worldwide and approximately 1.3 people died every year.
