The Syrian Army have claimed to kill 60 Islamic State militants while defending the city of Deir ez-Zor. SANA news agency yesterday reported that the Syrian Army, supported from air, managed to repel the IS attacks in the west of the city.
Deir ez-Zor, a major Syrian eastern city with population of over two lakhs has been besieged by IS since March 2014.
Syria has been in the state of civil war since 2011.
