Congress President Sonia Gandhi today criticized External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her statement in the Lok Sabha yesterday on the Lalit Modi controversy. Mrs Gandhi said, she would have extended her best help to Lalit Modi’s wife, who has been reportedly suffering from Cancer, but not by breaking the law.
The Congress President was responding to Mrs Swaraj’s plea that she had not helped Lalit Modi but his cancer-stricken wife. Mrs Gandhi was talking to media outside Parliament. Mrs Gandhi said, Sushma Swaraj staged a drama in Parliament on Lalit Modi issue.
On the same issue, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said, Mrs Swaraj has made a very eloquent but hollow speech. He alleged that the External Affairs Minister had kept her Ministry in dark and helped the fugitive Lalit Modi secretly.
