Russian Ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin passed away today due to heart failure. He was 67. He breathed his last at 8:50 am in New Delhi after brief illness.
Mr Kadakin had contributed greatly to strengthen India-Russia relations. He had served as the Russian Ambassador to India since October 2009.
He held the position of the Head of the Russian diplomatic mission in New Delhi from November 2009. Starting from 1971 the entire diplomatic career of Alexander Kadakin was closely associated with promoting Russian-Indian relations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of Mr Kadakin. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the Russian Ambassador was an admirable diplomat, a great friend of India and a fluent Hindi speaker. The Prime Minister said, Mr Kadakin tirelessly contributed to stronger India-Russia ties.
