NEW DELHI: Radical communalism from majority community led by the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) is all set to be highlight of the congress agenda at the plenary session that begins here on Sunday.

Congress sources told TIA that the party is gearing up to fight terror led by the RSS outfits in all part of the country and that is why the issue has been included prominently in draft political resolution to be announced in the end of the Plenary session.

The resolution assumes significance in the wake of Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Hindu radical groups published by the Wikileaks and digvijay singh continued attack on the forces of Hindutva.

The party’s political resolution will however emphasises that terror has no colour or religion. It is obvious that the party does not believe that terrorism is linked to any religion, yet party sources said that those promoting terrorism in the name of religion to capture power would not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious design.

Four resolutions on Political, Economic, and Foreign Affairs, and one on 125 years of the Congress party will be adopted at the Plenary session. The meeting of the Subjects Committee of the party finalized the draft resolutions on Saturday that will come up before the Plenary.

The theme of the Plenary is dedication and service of 125 years of Congress. The two-day session is also expected to decide on its strategy for assembly elections next year in five states and lay down a road map for future.  This is the third Plenary of the AICC since Mrs. Sonia Gandhi took over the reins of the Party in 1998.

The last Plenary was held in Hyderabad in 2006. The resolution was finalised at a meeting chaired by Gandhi with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by her side, after debates on all key issues including alliances.

After the party poll debacle in Bihar, Congress appears to be back on the coalition course. Ahead of the Plenary Session the talk of going it alone has given way to one of political reality.
