Punjab police claims to have busted a terror module with the arrest of three suspected terrorists planning to carry out “anti-national, disruptive activities” under instructions from their handlers based in Pakistan, Belgium and England.
IG Counter Intelligence M F Farooqui said in Amritsar yesterday that acting on confidential information Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab police arrested Gurpal Singh, Major Singh and Rachhpal Singh after search operations at different places.
He claimed they were in touch with some wanted terrorists based in Belgium, England and Pakistan and tasked with reviving militancy in Punjab, Police seized two pistols of 9 MM and 30 bore along with magazines and 16 live cartridges from their possession. A case was lodged and investigation is underway.
Farooqui said Punjab police is working to crack the case of murderous attack on RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja in Jalandhar.
