PM should not make false claims over achievements: Congress

(Last Updated On: 28/09/2015)

The Congress has said that the Prime Minister should stop making tall and false claims over the achievements of his government during the last 15 months, on the foreign soil. Talking to media in New Delhi this afternoon, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said Mr Narendra Modi is misleading the people. He also criticised Mr Modi for his charges of corruption against the UPA government.

Mr Sharma alleged that present government has done nothing except repackaging the scheme launched during the UPA regime. He also trashed Prime Minister’s claim of Digital Revolution in India saying that it was former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who ushered in IT revolution.

He said Prime Minister is misusing official state visits and demanded an independent inquiry into organisation of public events for the prime minister during his foreign tours.

The spokesperson alleged that NDA government has done nothing except repackage schemes launched during UPA regime. He dismissed Prime Minister’s claim of Digital Revolution in India saying it was former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who ushered in IT revolution.

Referring to the Prime Minister getting emotional while recalling events about his mother, Mr Sharma wondered why he did not ensure that his mother stayed with him.

On party Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Aspen, Mr Sharma said Rahul Gandhi does not have to take anyone’s permission before traveling anywhere.

BJP has defended Prime Minister for his remarks during his foreign visit saying that the opposition party is unnerved over the growing popularity of Narendra Modi. Party spokesperson G V L Narasimha said Mr. Modi talked about the corruption and policy paralysis during UPA rule which is a reality. He said instead of attacking Prime Minister, the Congress should explain its misrule to the people.
