Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Non-Resident Indians, NRIs had made a big contribution in the fight against COVID-19 from where they were staying or from India. He said, their contribution to PM Cares is strengthening health services in the country.
PM said that NRIs have strengthened their identity by showing their commitment for the betterment of the society. He feels proud to hear heart-warming stories of NRIs coming forward, helping those in need.
Addressing the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention in virtual mode, Mr Modi said, today the internet has connected people from various corners of the world but our hearts are connected with our mutual love for the country. He said, in the past years, Non-Resident Indians have strengthened their identity by showing their commitment for the betterment of the society. Mr Modi said, he feels proud to hear heartwarming stories of NRIs coming forward and helping those in need.
Prime Minister said, today when the country is working towards building AatmaNirbhar Bharat, NRIs will play an essential role in strengthening Brand India. He said, when the Pravasi Bharatiya will use Made In India products, it will increase people’s confidence in those products across the globe.
The Prime Minister said, today, India is using technology to defeat corruption and lakhs and crores of rupees are being directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He said, today, India’s space programme and tax start-up ecosystem is a leader in the global sphere. Mr Modi said, even during Covid, several new unicorns and tech start-ups started from India.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today sent his greetings on the occasion of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas. In a tweet, Mr Naidu said, our NRIs carry the fragrance of this ancient land to far away places and with their hard work, enhance India’s reputation overseas. The Vice President said, they bring new ideas, good practices and investments, thus contributing significantly to India’s growth in multiple ways. He expressed hopes that they will prosper in all their endeavours.
