In a rare admission, Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau Chief has said that the country is facing growing threat from the Islamic State group as hundreds of Pakistanis have travelled to Syria to join the terror outfit.
Addressing a Senate Standing Committee on Interior Affairs and Narcotics Control, Intelligence Bureau Director General Aftab Sultan claimed that they are locating militants in the country and carrying out arrests.
He said local banned militants groups including Tekreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Sipaha-e-Sihaba have a soft corner for the Islamic State terror group. However, he said, Afghan Taliban are against the IS. The admission by IB chief about presence of IS in Pakistan came after it was denied by other many top Pak officials.
