and the Rajasthan ATS, the Madhya Pradesh Police on Saturday formally arrested the Malegaon bomb blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.
The MP police have arrested Sadhvi in the murder of former Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh ‘pracharak’ (preacher) Sunil Joshi.
Police arrested Sadhvi in Mumbai where she has been undergoing treatment at JJ hospital. Sources say that she had visited Sunil Joshi before his murder and reportedly tired to destroy some evidence.
Special Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian said that the Madhya Pradesh Police moved an application in the special MCOCA court in Mumbai and after taking the court’s permission they placed Sadhvi under arrest in the Sunil Joshi murder case
Pragya would soon be taken to MP after some official formalities. Police have alleged that Joshi masterminded the blasts in Ajmer and Hyderbad’s Mecca Masjid, and was later killed by his own associates on December 29, 2007 in Dewas (Madhya Pradesh).
Pragya was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad for being allegedly involved in the on September 29, 2008 Malegaon bomb blast cases.
Sixty-eight people were killed when bombs went off in two coaches of Samjhauta Express, running between Delhi and Lahore, around midnight on February 18, 2007 at Diwana near Panipat, 80 km north of Delhi.
Pragya, an alleged member of right-wing Hindu group Abhinav Bharat, has already moved the Supreme Court challenging her prosecution under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Malegaon blast case.
