Normal life has been badly affected in the Manipur capital Imphal today by the 72-hour Khwairamband Bazar bandh starting from the last midnight. The bandh was called by the women vendors of four markets of Khwairamband Bazar in the heart of Imphal city demanding introduction and passing of a new bill in the state legislature to protect the indigenous people of the state.
Imphal, inter-state and inter-district vehicular services remained off the road due to the bandh. Business establishments around the four markets of Khwairamband Bazar including shops of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar remained closed. However, there is no report of any untoward incident during the bandh so far.
