Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at his residence in the national capital in the backdrop of alliance talks for Bihar polls. Both leaders are believed to have discussed possible alliance between the two parties. JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav had earlier asserted that JD(U), Congress and RJD will fight the Bihar Assembly polls together to take on BJP.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who arrived in New Delhi today, said he will be meeting leaders on the alliance issue. The top leaders of RJD and JD(U) are expected to hold back to back meetings in New Delhi to iron out their differences. The leaders are likely to hold a meeting at the residence of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as well to resolve the Bihar alliance issue.
The issue of merger of Janata Parivar is for the time being slowed down as the focus has shifted on making alliance for Bihar polls.
Meanwhile, BJP today said both JD(U) and Congress know they will lose in Bihar Assembly polls if they contest election individually. Party leader R K Singh said their effort to come together is strange as both Nitish Kumar and Rahul Gandhi had been completely against each other.
