Suspected NSCN (K) militants today fired at an Assam Rifles camp in remote Lazu area in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. The attack comes three days after the group ambushed an army convoy killing 18 soldiers in Manipur on Thursday. Tirap SP Ajit Kumar Singla said, a group of 35 NSCN (Khaplang) rebels attacked the camp in the Indo-Myanmar border region at around 2.30 AM. However, there was no report of any casualty.

He said, cross firing from both the sides lasted for about ten minutes. Around 70 empty cartidges of AK-47 rifle, along with unexploded bombs, were recovered from the site. Singla said, a massive search operation was underway in the area after the incident.
