The Muslim representation in the Bihar Legislative House has increased substantially in the elections. Their tally has increased from 14 in last assembly to 19 in the new House. This time Muslims have got elected from all major parties including BJP. The only Muslim candidate from the BJP Saba Zafar- defeated congress nominee Abdul Jalil Mastan by a margin of by over 18,000 votes in Amour constituency of Muslim populated Purnia district. Interestingly out of four victorious congress candidates three are Muslims. Two women from the community too are among the winners.
