The areas where curfew was relaxed include Katghar, Galshahid, Majhola, Kotwali, Nagfani and Mugalpura at Moradabad.Curfew was relaxed from 10 AM to 5 PM in Majhola, Kotwali, Nagfani and Mugalpura police areas while 4 hours relaxation from 12 PM to 4 PM was given in the remaining two sensitive police areas including Katghar and Galshahid. Friday ‘namaz’ was offered during curfew relaxation period peacefully said MK Bashal, IG.


No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the town from Thursday night.


The educational institutions will remain closed till further order across the city. Several people have been detained for interrogation in connection with violence erupted between two communities on Tuesday night. Police has lodged four criminal cases and 58 persons have been arrested in connection with FIRs.



The Additional DG security is camping at Moradabad town to keep eyes on the situation. About 25 companies of security forces including 7 Companies central Para military forces are deployed in curfew hit areas to maintain peace and law and order.

Meanwhile several members in Lok sabha on thursday voiced concern over the Moradabad riots with Samajwadi Party even demanding dismissal of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh.

SP members stormed the well on the issue and went back only after party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was allowed by Deputy Speaker Karia Munda to have his say in the matter briefly.

On the other hand BJP’s Adityanath demanded protection to the ‘kanwarias’ of the the area.
