indian armyA massive combing operation has been launched in Tinsukia district of Assam after militants killed three army jawans and injured another four in an ambush this morning at Penegree.

DGP Mukesh Sahay has arrived at Penegree to take stock of the situation. The three martyrs have been identified as Sashipal Singh, Harpat Singh and Multan Singh. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has asserted that those involved in the incident would not be spared.

Tinsukia SP suspected that at least 15 militants were involved in the ambush. Police said, ULFA and NSCN jointly carried out the ambush. Meanwhile, some villagers of nearby areas of Pengeree have left their homes and took shelter in a public school following the incident.
