TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held protest rally at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against government’s demonetisation move.
JDU chief Sharad Yadav and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan also joined the rally.
Addressing the rally, Mr Yadav said the poor have been badly affected by the government’s decision and the relief announced by the government is not visible.
He said the Prime Minister should come to Parliament and explain to the nation why such a drastic measure was considered without making proper preparations from before.
Opposition parties including Congress, TMC, JD(U), BSP, CPI(M) are opposing the recent decision. Earlier, in the morning, all opposition party MPs sat on a dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament House.
