Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said, Maharashtra tops the list of states in organizing most number of programs as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to celebrate 75 years of the India’s Independence. He said, as many as 42 events have been organized in 18 districts of the state to celebrate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Various Politicians, NGOs and other organizations are distributing the tricolor flag in their neighborhoods in various parts of state.
AIR correspondent reports, as informed by state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, there is a plan to hoist the tricolor in two crore houses in Maharashtra and one crore flags for this program will be made available through private traders, other organizations and the central government. A fund of Rs. 35.45 crore has been distributed at the district level through the Cultural Affairs Department for organizing various programs under this campaign.
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai -MCGM is distributing the National flag in 35 lakh homes in Mumbai. The MCGM administration has also made a humble appeal to all Mumbaikars to hoist the tricolor at their homes with respect for the tricolor as per the National Flag Code and keep the national flag as a memento after the end of the campaign period.
In order to facilitate the sale and distribution of National Flags under Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, all Post Offices across the country are functioning all days up to Independence Day 2022, including on holidays.
In Maharashtra, over six lakhs eighteen thousand national flags have been supplied to Post offices, of which more than two lakh eighty-six thousand flags have already been sold. On the other hand, the Maharashtra state electricity distribution company is distributing national flag along with August month’s electricity bill.
