Students belonging to Jammu & Kashmir staying in boys and girls hostels of the Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) today left for their homes by a special bus arranged by the university. Two university guards(Ex Army men) are also accompanying students in the bus. These students were stranded in hostels due to sudden lockdown and could not go to their homes.
The bus was properly sanitised by the university administration in the campus before leaving for Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University for medical screening of students, guards and drivers for fever and other symptoms related to Corona virus. JMI teachers were present there too for facilitation.
On the instructions of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar students were provided with water, food packets, hand sanitiser and masks. She expressed satisfaction and hoped that these students will now reach safely to their homes and be with their families.
Dean Students Welfare(DSW) and his team, Chief Proctor and his team and administrative staff were present to coordinate the smooth departure of students from the university.
Students staying in hostels want to leave for their homes as the university is closed and will now reopen for regular students in August2020 and offline examination for final semester/year is scheduled to be held in July2020 provided the situation is normal and lockdown is not extended due to Corona virus pandemic.
The university is making arrangements for hostellers to send them back to their homes in their respective states.
