Two jail officers have been arrested for being allegedly involved in the doing business of narcotics inside jails in Punjab.
The arrested offcial were posted at Fardikot and Patiala jails. While Faridkot Jail’s Assistant Superintendent Karamjit Singh Bhullar has been arrested for facilitating narcotics inside the jail, Patiala Central Jail’s Head Warden Sukhwinder Singh has been caught during checking when he was entering the jail for duty.
Smack, opium and sachets of tobacco have been reportedly found in his possession. Police is investigating both the officials.
Highly placed sources in Punjab Prisons department said that the department was having a suspicion over their activities and was keeping a close watch on them. He said the department is trying its best to nab all those involved in smuggling of drugs inside the prisons.
