A passenger plane of Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Air carrying more than 50 people on board crashed into waters off Jakarta today. A statement released by the Sriwijaya Air, said the Boeing 737-500 was on an estimated 90-minute flight from Jakarta to Pontianak, capital of West Kalimantan province on Indonesia’s Borneo island.

Captain EKo Surya Hadi, commander of Trisula coast guard ship said, human body parts and debris of the plane were found. Spokesman of Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Office Yusuf Latief said rescue teams were heading to the scene after receiving information.

The plane is not a 737 Max, the Boeing model involved in two major crashes in recent years
