India and United Kingdom have agreed to to tackle terrorism globally and reiterated their call to Pakistan to bring perpetrators of the November 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai to justice.

In a joint statement issued by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Britain counterpart David Cameron, last evening, they said that India and the UK stand united against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and support the early finalization of a Comprehensive Convention of International Terrorism.

The statement underlines that both the countries will continue to work together to disrupt all financial and tactical support for terrorist networks including Islamic State, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, the Haqqanis, and the associated groups.

UK and India will continue to work together to prevent terrorist attacks and counter violent extremism through the exchange of best practices and technologies.

They will work through the UN and the Global Counter-terrorism Forum to support action by governments to implement effective national strategies in partnership with communities, civil society and industry.

Briefing media, Ministry of External Affairs’ Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that there has been the announcement of a Defence and International Security Partnership to deepen India-UK defence collaboration through capability partnerships in strategic areas.

These areas include research, training, transfer of defence technologies and defence manufacturing in areas of mutual interest through Make in India.
