India would have around 15 crore population of elderly persons by 2021. Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Vijay Sampla told Rajya Sabha in a written reply today that the projected population of male 60 year and above will be over 7 core and female 7.26 core by then. The population of elderly persons would be around 12 crore by the end this year. Mr. Sampla said the government is taking several steps for their welfare.
