On the first day of his visit to China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting Chinese President in Xian for a one to one talk. The meeting began about an hour ago and is still on. During the discussions, a wide range of issues including economic cooperation, trade and boundary are likely to come up.
Away from Beijing, the one to one talk between the two leaders in the historic Xian city can create a new chemistry between them and also set a new tone for bilateral ties. The delegation level talks are scheduled for tomorrow in Beijing and today’s meeting is expected to impact the outcome tomorrow. However it remains to be seen whether an out of the box solution could come up for complex issues.
Modi magic was seen at Xian city today. As the Prime Minister was heading towards his hotel after visiting the Da Xing Shan temple, several thousand Chinese youth assembled on both sides of the street, cheering and waving. Mr Modi came out of his car and went to the people who were desperate to get a glimpse of him and click a picture. For about ten minutes, Mr Modi walked on the street responding to them and waving both of his hands. Such popular support for a visiting Prime Minister is rarely seen.
