Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India was a ray of hope in the world economy. He asserted that his government was committed to transforming the lives of the poor and villages.
Mr Modi claimed that there was not a single allegation of corruption against his government ever since he has been serving as “pradhan sevak”.
Addressing a farmers rally in Belgaum, Karnataka, the Prime Minister called upon farmers to avail the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana that is now free from all the barriers posed by previous crop insurance schemes. Prime Minister said that the new crop insurance scheme enables farmers to pay minimum premium and claim insurance for monsoon loss, produce loss and loss due to calamities. He asked farmers to join the scheme in large numbers.
Listing out other farmer specific programmes of Central Government, he said soil health card, quality seeds and river linkage programmes will benefit the farmers. Mr Modi asked the farmers to use fertilisers according to the crop pattern and soil types.
Prime Minister said that government is working to provide 100 percent Neem-coated Urea and appealed farmers to use only Neem-coated Urea. He laid emphasise on water conservation and said each-drop-more-crop must be the motto of each farmer.
The Prime Minister said acute shortage for urea that prevailed earlier can no longer be seen now as pilferage of fertiliser has been plugged affectively. He also added that MGNREGA scheme has also been remodeled to prioritise water recharge, water conservation and asset creation.
