Calls for decisive and collective response without any double standards to fight the menace

India and Russia have denounced terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and reiterated the need to combat the menace with decisive and collective response without any double standards.
In a joint statement issued after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi yesterday, both sides agreed to converge their efforts to eradicate terrorist networks, their sources of financing, to counter terrorist ideology, propaganda and recruitment.
The two nations condemned all kinds of state support to terrorists, including cross border terrorism, and providing safe havens to terrorists and their network. The statement also recognised the importance of adopting the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, which is pending in the United Nations.
India and Russia declared their support to Afghan government’s efforts towards the realization of an Afghan-led, and Afghan-owned national peace reconciliation process.
The two sides also expressed satisfaction at the significant progress made on the ongoing projects of military technical co-operation. They recognized the positive shift towards joint research and joint production of military technical equipment between the two countries.
Earlier, both countries signed the contract for the supply of the S-400 Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile System to India. They inked eight agreements on trade, railways, nuclear field and MSME sector.
Later, speaking at the India-Russia Business Summit, Mr Modi said, India is now one of the fastest growing economies and Russia is an important partner in its progress. He said, India is emerging as a shining star among world economies.
Mr Modi expressed his commitment to build a New India where people will have access to better living conditions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Russian President said, Moscow and New Delhi need to advance industrial co-operation. He said, both nations will continue to work together to eliminate any barriers that halt the movement of goods and services.
