The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the state government to complete the realisation proceedings of 5.20 crore rupees from the banned Popular Front of India, its office bearers and supporters, towards the damages caused to public and private property during the hartal called by it in September 2022.

The Court said the realisation proceedings should be completed by the 23rd of January and asked the state government to file a compliance report in this regard. A Division Bench comprising Justices A K Jayashankaran Nambiar and Mohammed Nias clarified that prior notices need not be issued to the concerned parties for attaching their properties.

The Court posted the hearing of the case to the 24th of January.

Last month, the Court summoned the Additional Chief Secretary- Home, after the government did little to comply with the court order. The government had then assured the Court that the proceedings will be completed by the 15th of this month.

On September 23 last year, supporters of the Popular Front of India vandalised public and private property in protest against the nationwide raid by the NIA on PFI offices and the arrest of its top brass.
