UNION Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today reiterated government’s stand that it is ready for the talks with farmers.
Speaking to media reporters in New Delhi after meeting members of All India Kisan Coordination Committee who had come from Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Mr Tomar said, government will definitely hold talks if farmer unions’ proposal comes.
He said, the discussions will be held clause by clause.
He said, the India Kisan coordination committee members who met him, supported Farm Bills and gave a letter on the same.
Mr Tomar quoting farmers said they are happy that the Narendra Modi government has done this for the welfare of farmers and they welcome and support it.
The minister said, the intentions and policies of the Government are towards the welfare of the Farmers.
Mr Tomar said, farmers are already benefiting from the pro-farmer reforms which will help in increasing the income of farmers.
The All India Kisan Coordination Committee Members submitted a memorandum to the Agriculture Minister in favour of the Farm Acts.
AIR correspondent reports, the farmers those who met the minister were of the opinion that the laws would ensure freedom of choice to farmers in sale and purchase of agri-produce and allow barrier-free trade and commerce outside premises of Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees.
These farm reforms, they felt, would also enable farmers to access modern technology, better seeds and other inputs, besides attracting private investment into the agriculture sector.
More than seven thousand NGOs work under the umbrella of the All India Kisan Coordination Committee and their members will all rise up to support the recently enacted Farm Acts.
