Goa witnessed a huge turnout in the assembly elections today with 83 per cent voters casting their ballots. Chief Electoral officer Kunal said that the voting percentage was expected to go up as final reports were yet to come in. Voting took place from 7 am to 5 pm in 1642 polling stations across the state.
Except for minor incidents of electronic voting machine failures, and cancellation of voting in one booth, polling was generally peaceful. Barring minor scuffles in some constituencies, no untoward incident has been reported in the state.
