Flood situation in Chennai and its suburbs is improving slowly as rain has taken a break since last two days except for the isolated showers. Cuddalore district also witnesses isolated drizzle, bringing hope for the public. However, as the problem of water logging persists, the rescue teams are reaching out to the marooned areas including those that were not so far not reached.
Road connectivity within Chennai is improving with the resumption of transport in a segment of the arterial Saidapet bridge that was inaccessible earlier. State transport corporation is going to operate bus service to the southern parts of the state via the GST Road that was earlier out of bounds. Civilian flights are to be operated from the naval airfield at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, 90 kilometers West of Chennai.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that Chennai is not likely to receive heavy rainfall for next 48 hours. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, IMD director B P Yadav said, during last 48 hours Chennai has not got any heavy rainfall. He said, Heavy rainfall zone is confined to three districts of Cuddalore, Puducherry and Nagapattinam.
