Export of Flowers along with horticulture, veggies and other agriculture products is soon going to start from Varanasi and the Uttar Pradesh government has said that the city will become a model for Agro export.
A large consignment of Black rice and other regional rice varieties was flagged off today from the city for Doha.
AIR correspondent reports that 3 trucks loaded with around 532 metric ton rice will first reach Gujrat and then it will be shipped to Qatar.
The Black Rice variety being grown in Chandauli district near Varanasi got mention in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech during recent visit to his parliamentary constituency.
The consignment of Black rice added a new chapter in the agriculture and veggies export from Varanasi.
It was flagged off by Chairman of The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), M. Angamuthu and commissioner of Varanasi Deepak Agrawal.
On the occasion, Chairman APEDA, M. Angamuthu said that very soon Varanasi will become the hub of Agriculture export and food processing.
He said that from last few years Black rice is being grown in Chandauli and it is being exported abroad through APEDA.
Around 5 thousand farmers are getting benefits of organic farming , trading and vegetable storage in the region.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) recently organised a virtual buyer-seller meet on fresh vegetables’ export from Varanasi region.
