Experts from India and USA discussed the challenges and opportunities to combat climate change through technology-led Carbon Capture and Utilisation solutions (CCUS) at the Indo-US Scoping Workshop on Carbon Capture held yesterday. It was part of a series of workshops being organized by India’s Department of Science and Technology and USA’s Department of Energy. The aim of these workshops is to explore complementary strengths and gaps in CCUS between the two countries and evolve collaborative techno- led endeavours.

In his opening remarks, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology Dr. S Chandrasekhar said that under a strict climatic regime, we can realize the identification and adoption of a right balance of portfolio of emission curtailment technologies. He said that Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage is among one such key pathways to reduce emissions while continuing to develop sustainably at an unprecedented pace.
