The Election Commission Wednesday expressed its satisfaction over preparedness of Assembly poll in Madhya Pradesh.

Speaking at a press conference in Bhopal, Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat said, the commission is committed to conduct a free and fair election.

During its two days visit to the state, the full bench of election commission met various stakeholders including District Administrative officials and representatives of political parties to review the poll preparedness.

Mr Rawat said, the state election officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance of the Model Code of Conduct and to carry out impartial action against any complaint regarding its violation.

He said, the State election machinery has been directed to take necessary steps to address issues raised by political parties.

Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat and Election Commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa also launched Sugamya Portal App to facilitate Persons with Disabilities and released CDs & SVEEP activities book during the visit.

Meanwhile, several candidates of various political parties including BJP and Congress have withdrawn their names as today was the last date for withdrawal of nominations in Madhya Pradesh.

Overall, 4 thousand 157 nomination papers were submitted in the state and 574 nominations have been cancelled during scrutiny.

Voting will be held for the 230 seat State Assembly in a single phase on 28th November. Counting will take place on 11th of December.
