Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is a unique program celebrating the Unity in Diversity of India. It also intends to strengthen the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bonds between the people of the country.
An 18 day long Focussed Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Campaign has been organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting across the country. The program kicks will continue till 28th February.
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat promotes the spirit of national integration through a deep and structured engagement between all Indian States and Union Territories.
The highlights will be showcasing the rich heritage and culture, cuisines, crafts, customs and traditions of 36 States and Union Territories across the country for enabling people to understand and appreciate the diversity of India. It will foster a sense of common identity.
The idea is to establish long-term engagements and to create an environment that promotes learning between States by sharing best practices and experiences.
States and Union Territory have been paired with each other. Jammu and Kashmir has been paired with Tamil Nadu, Punjab with Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand with Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh with Kerala, Delhi with Sikkim in the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. During the focused campaign, tributes will be paid to Iron Man of India – Sardar Patel, the Unifier of the country.
At the launch of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about how the initiative can build bonds between the people of various States of India.
