Two police officers were killed as they try to flush out gunmen who took a number of people, including foreigners, hostage inside a Spanish restaurant in Dhaka’s Gulshan diplomatic zone Friday evening.

Dhaka police Additional Deputy Commissioner Ahad was among several law enforcers who sustained injuries, said Mizanur Rahman, senior ASP in the media wing of Rapid Action Battalion.
According to local media reports, there may be 20 to 30 people who are being held hostage now.
The incident, that began around 9:00 tonight at Holey Artisan Bakery, a Spanish restaurant, on Road 79, has caused to injuries of at least 30 people including police officials.
Last reported around 12:30am, police were trying to establish communication for a negotiation. However, no demands have been placed from the criminal group so far.
