Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today accused the BJP of weakening institutions like RBI. Addressing Jan Vedna Sammelan organised by his party in New Delhi, Mr Gandhi said demonetisation was a badly implemented decision of the Narendra Modi government.
He alleged that decision on demonetisation was taken the Prime Minister in his personal capacity and derailed country’s economy. Saying that unemployment is on the rise is the country, he said good days will come only when Congress comes to power in 2019.
Speaking on the occasion, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram claimed that there is no record of Cabinet meeting of November 8 that took decision on demonetization. He also said demonetization has impacted Gross Domestic Product adversely.
On demonetization issue, Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said worst is yet to come. Dr Singh said, employment will decrease in agriculture, industry and services. He said, production will also decline particularly in the informal sector which accounts for 45 percent of GDP.
