Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that the demand for Indian organic produce was high in the global market. He said while addressing at Jaivik Krishi Sammelan organised by the National Centre of Organic Farming at Pandit Deen Dayal Dham here.
The Minister said, the Modi government wa committed to promoting organic farming and is providing every possible help to farmers for the development of organic farming in the country.
He said, sustainable production can be achieved through organic farming by improving soil health and fertility. He said, the Modi government launched a new initiative the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana in 2015 under which 1307 crore rupees have been allocated to promote organic farming on cluster mode.
The Minister said, organic farming has the potential to provide livelihood to farmers and create employment opportunities for rural and urban people.
