She said that Delhi Haj Committee has been deeply involved in making all arrangements for this purpose. The Haj pilgrimage is regarded as the foremost desire of every person following Islam.
“The city government has been trying to make the start of the journey purposeful and affectionate. Delhi is proud of this very fact that every year thousands of person coming from the northern state depart from IGI Airport which is regarded as the fourth best airport in the world” she said.
She exhorted Hajis to pray for peace progress and prosperity of Delhi and India and devote their post Haj period in serving humanity and nurturing the values of unity and harmony.
The Chairperson, Central Haj Committee Mohsina Kidwai, Delhi Revenue Minister, Arvinder Singh, Delhi Power Minister, Haroon Yusuf, Vice Chairman, Central Haj Committee Hasan Ahmad, Chairman, Delhi Haj Committee, Dr. Parvez Mian, Secretary Revenue, Dharampal and other officers were present on this occasion. Saudi Arab Ambassador in India Dr. Saud Mohd. Al Sati also grace the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Smt. Dikshit stated that Delhi Haj Committee has presented ATM and Sim Cards to hajis in order to ensure their hassle free journey and stay during their holy haj. It is expected that around 22000 hajis would depart from IGI Airport. Delhi Government has been providing courtesy and usual assistance to pilgrims of all religions and Delhi is known for its composite culture.
