Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR needs to create ease of doing technology Business platform to bring in right stakeholders so that technologies can reach the beneficiaries.

Addressing the CSIR platinum jubilee celebrations in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said, it is important to connect science with the common citizens in the century, which is technology driven. He said, starting with the indelible ink which is the hallmark of India’s democratic fabric, CSIR has left an indelible mark on every sphere of life.

He said, CSIR should make sure that more students get chance to research in their labs. he said, students have a lot of talents and they just need a platform.

On the occasion, Mr Modi also dedicated seven new indigenously developed varieties of plants to the nation. Interacting with the farmers from five states through video conferencing, the Prime Minster encouraged them to brand their products for better marketing.

The new varieties of the plants that have ornamental and medicinal qualities are developed by the CSIR laboratories. The plants include new varieties of lemongrass, citronella, vetiver and canna lily plant.

Congratulating scientists of the CSIR, The Prime Minister said that It is a matter of pride for every Indian that CSIR is celebrating 75th year of committed contribution to the development of modern India.

He expressed confidence that CSIR scientists will keep developing new technologies in the years to come.

In the meantime, the institution’s various labs will organise many people-friendly events with an idea to promote science among youth and bring their works in public domain through industry-academia interactive sessions.

Established in 1942, the CSIR is an autonomous society which is presided over by the Prime Minister. An ensemble of 38 state-of-the-art national labs across the country, it is amongst the foremost scientific and industrial research organizations in the world.

The Prime Minister also interacted with farmers via Video conferencing from five places including Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, Jorhat in Assam, Hyderabad, Jammu and Cuddalore. He also released variety of plants through video conferencing.

Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr Harshvardhan said that in in last 75 years CSIR has achieved several milestones in the development journey of the country.

Underlining the potential of Indian scientists Dr Harshvardan said that they can solve any problem of the country provided they are given proper facility.
