The Congress today demanded sacking of Minister of State for External Affairs, V K Singh for his alleged anti-Dalits remarks. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party leader Sushmita Dev said her party will continue to protest in both the Houses against Singh’s remarks.

When asked about the possibilities of the alliance between the Congress and the Samajwadi party for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress leader categorically stated that her party as of now has no intention of tying with Samajwadi party. She said, one should not speculate on the matter.

Replying to a query on passage of Goods and Service Tax bill, Ms Dev said, party has made its stand clear to the government during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh. She reiterated that the party favours the passage of the Bill but with certain amendments.

Congress has been demanding scrapping of one per cent inter-state tax and the constitutional cap of 18 percent for GST rate.
