At a review meeting in here today, Home Minister P Chidambaram said Centre has planned to tackle the Naxal menace through two pronged strategy, development and police action.
He said Left Wing Extremist groups also continue to target infrastructure and businesses. Chidambaram, however, said that the security forces have confronted the challenge of Left Wing Extremists with courage and restraint and shot dead 78 extremists in 125 encounters this year. In the high level meeting, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh were present. In Dantewada 10 security persons were killed on June 10.
