AGARTALA
Campaigning ended for Sunday’s Assembly polls in Tripura. Ruling CPI(M), BJP and Congress are in fray in the elections. The counting of votes will be held on 3rd of March.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the state for the conduct of polls.
Talking to media in Agartala, Director General of Police A.K.Shukla appealed to the voters to come out fearlessly and exercise their democratic rights on the day of polling.
He also said that adequate numbers of security forces have been deployed all around to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.
He further added that if anybody tries to take law on his/her hand, the police will take tough action.
He also said the Indo-Bangla border has been sealed to thwart any disturbance. He said that they are in touch with Mizoram and Assam police also to prevent any trans-border movement too.
While talking to media in Agartala, District Magistrate of West Tripura Dr. Milind Ramteke said since the campaign has ended section 144 has been imposed in the district.
He further added that Central Armed Police Forces is constantly patrolling in the district to avoid any untoward situation. He added that they are also monitoring in multiplexes and electronic media.
