Madhya Pradesh CM meets Jaitely, Rajnath discuss state issue

Vinit Wahi/ NEW DELHI

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently met the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss important issues with them.

He discussed with Jaitley the Bhawantar Bhugtan Yojana being implemented in the state for giving farmers fair price for their produce. Chouhan told that while Madhya Pradesh Government has distributed 1900 crore rupees under the scheme till date from its own resources but this being a scheme of 50-50 per cent share between centre and state; he insisted that the amount by the Centre be released to the state government at an earliest so that the scheme runs smoothly.

Chouhan appealed for an early release of drought relief amount of 2800 crore rupees pending with the Centre. The Chief Minister also discussed states’ share in central taxes and NABARD refinance amounting of Rs. 5384 crore . He also urged for Bundelkhand package and release of pending amounts of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, etc. at an earliest.

While calling on the home minister, the state CM asked him for an early passage of government bills pending with the Centre, especially one relating to death sentence for committing rape and sexual offences against minor girls.

It may be noted that MP assembly had passed the bill and sent it for Centre’s approval to convert it into an Act.
