The BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh have decided to intensify joint night vigil at vulnerable areas to prevent smuggling. This was announced by DG BSF Rakesh Asthana and DG BGB Shafeenul Islam while addressing a joint press conference in Guwahati today.

Mr. Asthana said that in the joint co-ordination conference that was held in Guwahati, issues of smuggling, border patrolling , killings on border and confidence building measures have been discussed. He said that both BSF and BGB identified regions for night vigil. He said that cases of smuggling and other crimes in border areas are decreasing but stressed to take more actions to eliminate crimes.

The Director General of BGB said that both BSF and BGB are working together to prevent smuggling and other crimes. This year the BSF has apprehended 3 thousand 204 persons who tried to infiltrate thorough Indo – Bangladesh border. On the issue of NRC, the DG BGB said that it is India’s internal matter and it is not a matter of concern for Bangladesh or BGB. He also asserted that BGB will take all steps to prevent infiltration.
