BJP today rejected former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s description that recent violent incidents are assault on the nation. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi BJP Secretary Shrikant Sharma said that blaming the NDA government for intolerance is just an excuse to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Sharma also deprecated the Congress for what he called running a poisonous campaign to malign the country’s image.
Referring to Dadri lynching and killing of rationalist M M Kulburgi, BJP Secretary Shrikant Sharma said all these incidents have nothing to do with the Centre and these took place in states ruled by non-BJP parties, including the Congress.
Earlier in the day at a function, the former Prime Minister had deplored violation of the right to freedom of thought by some violent extremist groups and shared the view that it was an assault on the nation.
