BJP today attacked Congress over its leader Navjot Singh Sidhu’s hug to Pakistan Army chief during Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony recently. The party also questioned the Congress over Mr. Sidhu’s remarks that Indians have small hearts.

Briefing media here today, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that Mr. Sidhu has somewhat tried to implicate India by making such comments. He condemned the remarks and demanded answer from Congress President Rahul Gandhi over it. He alleged that there are people within the Congress party who are trying to promote the interest of Pakistan in India.

Meanwhile, Congress has defended the cricketer turned politician saying he had made the visit in personal capacity and his hug to Pakistan Army Chief is a non-issue. Talking to MEDIA, party spokesperson Manish Tewari reminded the BJP about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lahore to meet the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 2015.

Recently, Sidhu, who is a Minister in Punjab government, had visited Pakistan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan which led to this controversy.
