At least 390 girls were raped and 104 children died by suicide in Bangladesh during the first eight months of 2025, according to a report by the National Girl Child Advocacy Forum (NGCAF).

Presented at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday, the report—supported by Educo Bangladesh—also recorded 54 cases of sexual harassment and 34 child abductions or trafficking incidents.

Eighteen abducted girls were rescued, while 83 were murdered and 50 others died under “mysterious circumstances.”

NGCAF coordinator Syeda Ahsana Zaman Anny said, “Women and girls must be able to step out of their homes without fear. Workplaces must also be made women-friendly.” NGCAF President Badiul Alam Majumdar presided over the briefing.
