President Droupadi Murmu today called upon students to harness the immense opportunities of the digital era and contribute dynamically to the nation’s growth. Addressing the Convocation ceremony at the Central University of Tamil Nadu in Tiruvarur, she underlined the transformative role of education in shaping India’s future.

The President reminded students that the country’s industries are preparing for “Industry 4.0,” an age of rapid technological innovation where young graduates can reap the greatest benefits if they embrace continuous learning. Citing former President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, she said that true education lies in the pursuit of wisdom and lifelong learning.

Murmu urged students to rediscover the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP), which aims at holistic and flexible learning, and encouraged them to channel their knowledge for the larger good of society. Reflecting on her own early career, she remarked, “Once a teacher, always a teacher,” emphasising the eternal bond between teachers and learners.

She lauded the Central University for maintaining high academic standards while ensuring inclusivity. By extending education to rural and marginalised sections, the institution, she said, had created opportunities for many first-generation learners, preparing them to become enlightened citizens and active nation-builders.

Looking ahead to Amrit Kaal—the next 25 years leading to the centenary of India’s independence—the President expressed confidence that today’s youth will play a decisive role in shaping the nation’s destiny. She urged graduates to remain sensitive to the needs of people around them and to engage in nation-building with compassion and responsibility.

Highlighting women’s achievements, she noted with pride that girl students secured two-thirds of the gold medals at the convocation, calling it a powerful sign of changing times and a testament to the potential of women in every field.

During the ceremony, the President conferred gold medals on 45 outstanding students and awarded doctoral degrees to 44 scholars for their significant research contributions. In total, 1,010 students graduated this year from the university, marking another milestone in its journey of academic excellence.
